Well, it’s spring and kickball season is here, which explains why this craft is so late… We’ve been busy in pre-season training and Margi ruptured her achilles tendon, so we’re behind schedule on crafts! Nonetheless, Julie found inspiration in the season and the sport and developed delightful monkeyfresh wristbands!
Materials:A fabulous sock with a pattern you love, a monkey (or other design/character you adore from another sock), fray check, set of snaps and a needle and thread.
Time: Approx. 20 mins per wristband (or 45 mins with a glass of wine or a refreshing beer)
Step 1: Select and cut your sock!
Take your fabulous sock and measure how wide you want the band to be on your wrist. Cut across the leg portion of the sock to make your band, and cut again to create one long strip of sock material that you will snap together.
Step 2: Stop the fray!
Use fray check to keep the edges of your wristband fabric from fraying. (You can also sew a quick hem for the same effect.)
Step 3: Get your monkey on!
Cut a monkey (or other rockin’ design/character) from another sock and sew on to the middle of your wristband. Yes!
Step 4: Sew yer edges and put on your snaps!
Sew approx. 1/8″ of the edge over to help you with snapping and unsnapping. Then line up your snaps and add them to your band.
Step 5:Get on the field!
Now sport your easy, monkey fresh wristband with pride!

Excellent. These will go nicely with the headband I made out of my old underwear….ooop, maybe I should have kept that to myself.
